I was once extroverted, but I’m becoming more of an introvert as I age.

What’s your hidden talent?
I sing really well in the shower.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
Oh, so many. Seafood, dressing, loaded nachos (no beans or guac), and tacos.

Why did you say “yes” to leading the MLK Center?
The mission and work align with my passion and purpose.
What inspired you to pursue a career in community leadership?
Personal alignment. I’m a true believer in the good of community, access, and belonging. I have a heart for people and the betterment of society.
Who has had the biggest influence on your leadership style?
My “adopted” dad, Bishop J. Delano Ellis II
What’s one leadership lesson you’ll never forget?
Integrity is non-negotiable.
What’s your biggest dream for the MLK Center?
I want the people (e.g., youth, families, seniors, and staff) to be pleased/satisfied/happy. I want to see increased enrollment, healthy endowments and financial stability, expanded programs and resources, and major updates to our technology, facilities, and community well-being/engagement.
What do you hope people feel when they walk through our doors?
A sense of pride, belonging, and community,
What’s one message you’d like every young person who walks through the MLK Center to hear?
“We got y’all”.
