Food Pantry

The Social Services Department has been in operation within the scope of services provided by the MLK Center since 1966.

The Social Services Department serves over 2,000 unduplicated low income residents each year.

Our pantry offers:

  • Food Distribution on Tuesday and Thursdays (Except Holidays)
  • Clothing – based on availability
  • Services linkages to outside agencies
  • Emergency food service
  • Referral to other in-house programs
  • Participate in seasonal voucher programs

Senior Citizens

  • Case Management Services for the elderly residents of the Alexander W. Thompson elderly Housing Complex.
  • Senior Citizen Meetings
  • Guest Speaker series for topics concerning Senior Citizen Health and well-being
  • Senior walking/exercise program three days a week
  • Low impact aerobic/weight lifting/exercise program for seniors
  • Senior Food Box Program

Other Services

The Social Services Unit also coordinates seasonal programs including:

  • VITA Income Tax Preparation
  • Coats for Kids
  • Christmas Toy Distribution
